National Courier Speedy Freight, has today announced it is sponsoring local, Super Lightweight Boxer, Jake James in his long-term goal to become a British and World Champion.
Manchester-born Jake, who has been boxing from the age of seven, has taken part in nearly 100 amateur fights, including notable wins for England.
Since turning professional in 2018, Jake has a record of 7 – 0, and is currently planning to take the Super Lightweight title at the Contender VIP series two at the Battle of Manchester hosted at The Point, Lancashire Cricket Club on the 4th April. Commenting on the sponsorship, Speedy Freight MD, Mike Smith says: “Our values focus on agility, dynamism and passion, delivering a fast, dedicated service for our customers. Boxers like Jake, reflect these values and show unrivalled dedication to their passion, working hard to be the best. We wish Jake all the very best in his upcoming fight and on his wider journey to the World Championships.”
The Speedy Freight sponsorship strengthens an already powerful team around Jake, including his trainer and idol, former WBA Lightweight champion, Anthony Crolla at his gym in Failsworth. Commenting on his training, Jake says, “Anthony is an excellent coach with extensive knowledge about boxing. He knows what it takes to reach the top level, more importantly he’s someone I trust and have full faith in.”
Jake adds, “I’ve dedicated my life to the sport and believe I will be a World Champion. I believe I am talented enough and with the help of sponsorship from companies such as Speedy Freight, I can train full time, which puts me in the best position to maximise my potential and achieve my dream.”
